The Timbavati Foundation

A conservation foundation supporting education and community upliftment.

Brief:

The Timbavati Foundation required a website that could clearly communicate its mission, history, and community-focused conservation work, while also serving practical internal needs. The organisation did not have a formal brand guideline in place, and existing documents and creative materials had not yet been translated into a cohesive digital identity.

Flipside Up was engaged to design and develop a website that would establish a clear, credible visual presence for the Foundation, using the colours, shapes, and visual cues already present in their materials as a starting point. In addition to public-facing communication, the brief included the need for a secure, password-protected space where internal documents and resources could be accessed and managed centrally.

The challenge was to create a calm, minimal digital experience that respected the Foundation’s history and values, while improving clarity, consistency, and usability across both public and internal touchpoints.

Solution:

We designed and built a clean, minimal website that allows the Foundation’s work to take centre stage, using a restrained balance of green and yellow to reflect its natural context.

The site structure clearly presents the Foundation’s mission, programmes, and history through intuitive navigation and strong visual hierarchy.

A secure, password-protected membership portal was implemented to support internal document access and collaboration.

The result is a cohesive digital platform that supports both public engagement and internal operations, aligned with the Foundation’s values and long-term goals.

Branding Concept:

The branding approach for the Timbavati Foundation focused on clarity, restraint, and respect for the organisation’s purpose. With no formal brand guideline in place, existing colours, shapes, and visual cues were used as the foundation for a cohesive digital identity.

The resulting look is clean and minimal, with a subtle and balanced use of green and yellow to reflect the natural environment without overpowering the content. The design creates a calm, credible framework that allows the Foundation’s work and impact to remain the focus.
